What’s the point?!?

Waking up in the morning. Rushing to catch the bus. Staying up until 3 a.m. doing homework. Freaking out about a test. All for what? School. A recent study by the Associated Press and MTV found 85% of students from the age 13-24 experience large amounts of stress daily. This is a full 10 percentage points higher than adults polled in a earlier study. That is crazy. All the adults always say, “Oh, you’re lucky you have it easy,” or “I remember the old easy days.”
In my opinion, children should be saying that to the adults after seeing results like these. All adults do is get paid to go sit on computers, tell students what to do, and socialize with their friends. Children don’t even get paid to go to school we have to go there by law.

What is the point of school anyways? In Social Studies all we learn about is dead people and the happenings of the world 1,000 years ago. We have Wikipedia and Google for that. In Math we have to write every single equation out. Are you joking? They created calculators to do the work for us and then we write the answer down, not what we just typed into a calculator. In Language Arts…we speak English and people understand us, what else do we need? One word for Spanish…Dora. Don’t even get me started about Science. Anyone can put a key on a kite during a thunderstorm, you don’t have to be a brilliant scientist. Oh my gosh, how do they even go out into public with hair like that? I would be humiliated! In conclusion, the government is putting a lot of extra stress on children that should be out enjoying their “easy” years and worry about things when they are older.

Dog Saves Owner’s Life

“Recent studies have shown that some dogs can sometimes accurately detect cancer.”  A Basset Hound mix named Lexie uses her great sense of smell to sniff out her owner, Lisa Hillje’s tumor.  She began jumping on Hillje’s chest and barking at her. Startled by the dog’s unusual behavior, the owner put her hand over the area where Lexie was jumping and found a sign of cancer. With a history of breast cancer in her family, the 39-year-old went to a doctor. This appointment revealed that Hillje had cancer, even though she received a negative test only a few months prior. Thanks to the early detection, founded by Lexie, Hillje’s cancer was successfully treated and has remained in remission.

Hillje credits being alive today to her dog, so she was more than happy to help Lexie when her own moment of need arrived. Shortly after Hillje’s battle with cancer ended, she noticed that Lexie was drinking excessive amounts of water and refusing food. Hillje brought her beloved pet to the vet’s office, where three cancerous tumors were discovered in Lexie’s liver. Her vet said that Lexie most likely only had a month to live, but Hillje refused to give up. She researched and paid for expensive holistic treatments and doted on Lexie’s every need. The devotion appears to have worked. Lexie is alive and well. Now the pair are even when it comes to life saving, but Hillje is sure that won’t stop either of them from helping each other again.

Is The New Bill Passed in Missouri just a Waste?

The new bill passed in the State of Missouri, House Bill 1621, Was a bill passed by a woman named Wanda Brown. House Bill 1621 is a bill that protects gun owners in the state of Missouri from being fired from a job if you have ever fired a firearm, own a firearm, or like to practice your marksmanship on the weekends.Wanda Brown claims to be stopping the discrimination of gun owners being fired because of a thing they own. However many consider this new bill to just be adding a second protection on to the Constitution’s 2nd Amendment.  Plus Wanda Brown voted against LGBT which is trying to stop the discrimination of Homosexuals being fired because of their sexuality. Finally Wanda says she is trying to stop discrimination at every corner she can find, but saying no to a issue as big as this is a problem.

I think this should be considered a second protection to the already existing 2nd Amendment in the Constitution. Which states as a person of the U.S. you have the right to keep and bear arms. I also think the state senators such as Wanda Brown should focus more on the discrimination of Gays being fired because of their sexuality.  Focusing more on an issue that has affected millions of people and has caused many to lose their jobs because of it in my opinion is more important then a problem that could possibly happen in the future if the 2nd Amendment were to fail.
