Too Much Money?

Everyone wants to have a great, fun time at their favorite amusement park. But who wants to pay a lot of money to get in? Not me! On Sunday, June 9th everything will change for the The Walt Disney Company. They have decided to raise their prices in both  Disneyland (Anaheim, CA.) and Disney World (Orlando, Fla.) The Burbank-based company states that a single-day ticket for ages 10 or older for both parks will cost from $87-$92, meaning it increased 6%. Thats crazy! In Disney World the adult pass increased $6 per person, meaning they have to pay now $95 for one adult for the day. Then there’s barely a discount for the children. Only the kids under age ten could have a 6% discount, meaning their total is $89. As you can see, the costs for an average family would be extremely high.

In my opinion, I personally think that the their prices should be lower. I think they are extremely high for a park filled with a ton of people. Yes, there are many rides but also huge lines. You could wait in a line for an hour just to go on one ride. By the end of the day it could be a waste of money by only going on a few rides. Furthermore, the families that have 5 people in it, like I do, that go to Disney World would spend a ton. For me, I have my dad, my mom, my 17 year old sister, my 15 year old brother, and me. That means for five people it will cost $475 for one day! That doesn’t even include parking and all the food. I think thats crazy for people to pay that much for rides. There should be discounts, but no there isn’t. Overall, I think if they keep raising their prices then people can’t afford it and they will lose customers.

Car Crash takes a Turn for the Worst!

On Sunday, February 23, 2013 in Daytona, Florida at Daytona International Speedway, there was a huge car crash. Now, you’re probably thinking, “So what? Car crashes happen all the time during races.” Well this crash was different because the race car went up on the fence and some things like tires and debris were thrown into the audience. About 30 fans were injured, some more serious than others. Two people were in a critical state. As for the drivers car, the entire front part of the car was completely ripped off. The engine was right on the ground next to the audience. This was something everyone in the stands that day would never forget.

Some people think that NASCAR is an unsafe activity and use this crash as an example. But in my opinion, although some were injured, the fence did its job by protecting the audience. For all we know, the car could have gone in to the audience instead of just a couple of tires and debris. I feel that the people that work at the Daytona 500 Speedway did a fairly good job on  constructing a safe environment for the fans of NASCAR. Also, NASCAR makes it safe for the drivers. All 12 of the drivers walked away from the crash. When car #32 car came to a halt, the driver climbed out to analyze the situation. It really is remarkable that a driver can walk away from a crash of such magnitude!

James Patterson has written over 50 books within ten years.  He and his wife currently live in Palm Beach, Florida with their son Jack. He was an advertising executive up until 1985 when he quit to become a novelist. He published his first book The Thomas Berryman Number, in 1976. His best selling detective novel Along Came A spider, introduced Alex Cross, a psychologist detective, from Washington DC. The series is 18 books long in counting. Two of the Alex Cross books were turned into movies starring Morgan Freeman; Along Came a Spider and Kiss the Girls. Cross, another Alex Cross book is also being made a movie. It will come out on October 19th.

I have read five of the Alex Cross books and they’re amazing. They keep on the edge of your seating and guessing page after page. You might think you know what’s going to happen, but you will change your mind again and again. His books have short chapters, but don’t let that discourage you. I personally like short chapters. They make you feel like you are moving along in the book faster. If you only have a short period of time to read, the books are perfect so you dont lose your place in the middle of a chapter too.
