Does a “Happy Meal” Really Make Kids Happy?

Childhood obesity – the statistics don’t lie

Did you know that 1 out of every three kids are obese or overweight?  Are you aware that in the past 30 years the occurrence of childhood obesity has tripled?  Childhood obesity is a huge issue in America.  Childhood obesity is when your extra amount of body fat affects your health.  Obese children are more likely to have low self esteem and to be depressed.  Sadly, excess weight at a young age can lead to higher and earlier death rate in adulthood.  Therefore, it is extremely important to eat healthy and gets lots of exercise to avoid obesity.

Unfortunately, as I said before 1 in 3 children are obese.   It’s pretty obvious who we have to thank for this, McDonalds, Dairy Queen, Wendy’s, and any other fast food restaurants. They may sell food that tastes good, but is their food good for you?  The answer is no.  All of these restaurants pack lots of sugar and sodium in their food and are loaded with food additives.  Eating too much fast food can lead to a large amount of weight gain and even diabetes and heart disease.  Overall, obesity is a major issue in our country and you can avoid it by eating healthy and getting plenty of exercise.  So next time you’re thinking of buying a Big Mac think about what you’re putting in your body and how it can affect you.
