Cheshire 8th grade football team

This year will probably be my last year with my football team or other known as my family. Next year I might be attending Notre Dame High School. Its been hard to except the fact that this might be it but I guess sometimes its just time to move on. My highlights of my team has been “My Play” also known as “207”.   This play is designed for me, the tight end, to go out on a simple 5 yard sideline pass that I have scored multiple times with. Another highlight has been the coaching staff including coach Sansone, coach Graikowski, coach Lamadeline, coach Nelson and coach Whalen.  With are record being 4-2 we are most likely in the playoffs already but with are 2 hardest games all season coming up next we have our work cut out for us.

My opinion on the rest of the season depends on are opponents in the playoffs.  For the past 2 years we have been kicked out of the playoffs by the same team (east haven) in the first round.  But since the easties (east haven) lost Mike Tonero their best player last year there should be no problems this year.  Hopefully we will take a long ride in the playoffs.  With three new formations we should catch are opponents off guard.  The more we keep the other teams offense off the field the better chance we have to get in the championship.

An American Argument About a Syrian Problem

The looming possibility of another war has everyone arguing.  Some feel the need to go to Syria, while others feel we should stay at home, and deal with our own conundrums.  There are others still who don’t even know what is really going on.  Sooo… what’s going on?  Syria became its own country in 1947, when it became independent from France.  The country had a shaky start, and never was really back on their feet.  Two years ago, though, was when it really started.  2011, the Arab Spring, caused Syrians to stand up for what they wanted, which was democracy.  The government responded in a cruel manner, kidnapping, torturing, and killing.  A civil war broke out.  It wasn’t until recently that this event got the U.S.’s attention.  Why now, after they’ve killed so many?  The Syrian government used chemical weapons, I repeat, chemical weapons, against their own people.  The U.S.A. has been contemplating going in.  Now, the question remains.  Should we really go in?

I, personally support both sides.  Originally, primer to debating it, I didn’t want America to go in.  My opinion was that it has nothing to do with us.  Let them kill each other.  They haven’t threatened us, so why bother going in?  War results in casualties, and we just fought one.  We don’t need another reason to lose our own people.  It could be another Vietnam, and that was bad.  Once I debated the topic, I learned what was going on.  Innocents lose their homes, and their lives, everyday.  Unarmed citizens are being killed by their own government.  How horrible is that?  Imagine living in fear everyday, worried that your home is going to get bombed, or that your parents aren’t going to come home.  That’s a sickening thought.  It makes me sad.  Where do you stand?

Crisis in Syria

The violence in Syria first began in March 2011.  What started as a peaceful protest, after 15 children from school were arrested, and reportedly tortured for writing anti government graffiti on a wall.  The people were calling for the release of the children,  but the government responded very violently. On March 14, the government opened fire on the protesters, killing 4 innocent people.  The next day, they killed another innocent civilian after opening fire at the mourners attending the victims funerals.  Now, enraged by the governments actions, the protestors demanded that President Assad to step down, but he refused.  In August, things went too far, when the government used chemical weapons against their own people, killing hundreds including many children.  This attack caused international outrage, mainly because chemical warfare is a weapon of mass destruction, and has been banned.  Now, there is a big debate on if the US should take military action on Syria.

Personally, I think the US government should take military action in Syria. I think this because if no one responds to how they used chemical weapons, they will set a precedent for other countries to use them, because they will think that no one is going to stop them if they do. Also, as a result of President Assad leadership, hundreds of innocent lives are being lost because of a corrupt government killing their own people.

Quick, Turn It Back On!

On October 1, 2013 the United States Federal Government was shut down, causing chaos, uncertainty, and financial turmoil.  Because the Democrats and Republicans could not agree on a budget in time for the next fiscal year, the government had to “shut down”.  People have lost wages because many government sponsored jobs are “on hold”, and there is a feeling of fear and doom across the country.   The media has played upon the huge philosophical and fiscal differences between the two parties, and the feud between the two is now an international event.  This shutdown makes the United States appear weak, irresponsible, and distracted on the international stage.  Other countries may view this internal crisis as a weakness.  The world sees this shutdown as extremely negative. This historical crisis is still occurring now, and will not stop until the two political parties show maturity and responsibility to agree with each other to create a workable budget.

I believe that the members of  the United States congress are  acting foolishly and that their disagreements are pathetic.  The members of Congress are egomaniacs who  think that their ideas are better than the ideas of the other party.  In my opinion, I think that the members of both parties are idiots and are losing sight of  what is really important, keeping  the Unites States as the greatest, most powerful country in the world! However, we can’t maintain such a high level of power when the people who run this country aren’t running it for the nation, they are running it into the ground because their own special interests are first.  I mean, you would think that maybe one person would rise above all and knock some sense into everybody’s heads, but apparently it hasn’t happened because this crisis has been going on for seven days now, and there is no end in sight.  I wonder how President Obama feels about the situation right now and what he could do to convince Congress to move  in the right direction? I also wonder how he feels, knowing that arrogant fools are guiding this nation into the wrong direction!? Well then, I’m just about ready to go to bed,  so the mind boggling thought of selfish fools managing this nation will soon flee my mind!-Thank God!
