IPhone 5s… Is it really worth getting?

So why are you getting the IPhone 5S?  Is it because it is so cool.  Is it because of the camera, and quality.  Is it just because the phone is so advanced and you want to see the graphics when playing IPhone games.  Or is it because you’re a teenager who just wants a new phone.  The newest IPhone is really worth getting but why do people want this new phone?

The IPhone 5S looks exactly like the iPhone 5. One of the only new and improved features is that the 5S has a better camera(with slow motion effect) than before, and a finger scanner.  The new camera’s slow-motion feature sounds cool, but there are a ton of apps that will give you this same ability such as Slow Pro.  The iPhone 5S will likely have to buy it unlocked (meaning not pre-owned and locked from previous owner) for at least $650.  If you had to choose between the new IPhone 5S or the IPhone 5 I would choose the new one even though the 5 is still a really good quality phone.  Just because you need a new phone doesn’t mean we all have to get it .

The Outlets At Cheshire

The Outlets at Cheshire

Coming in the early summer of 2015 The Outlets at Cheshire will be opening. Starting in early 2014 construction will begin to make this 500,000 square foot dream come to life. It will be located by routes 84, 91, and 691. The outlets features will make it a pedestrian friendly layout to all the visitors who come. It will provide brand names that are not available in the central part of Connecticut. Also, it will include quality fine dining.

I think the idea of making an outlet at Cheshire is a cool idea. I like to go out shopping, but the thing is I can’t do it that often because all the outlets or malls are a far drive from Cheshire. Now, with the outlets coming it makes it more convenient for anyone to go shopping because it is very close.  Also,  there will be fine dining choices at the outlets. If my family and I, feel hungry and want to go out to get some food we will be able to go their. I know Cheshire has a lot of restaurants that have good food, but a lot of it is fast food. Now, we will be able to have a wider variety of food to eat, if we want to go out. I definitely think I’m going to be going to these outlets when they open. Do you think you will go to the Outlet at Cheshire?

New Apple Releases

Last week Apple’s CEO Tim Cook announced the release of the new iPhone 5S and 5C.  The 5S features a fingerprint security system, faster processor, IOS 7, and a higher quality camera, while the 5C is available in several different colors. The 5C is a new lower priced phone that was created to target customers in China and India who do not have a lot of money but still want the iPhone. This is the first time Apple has released two model phones at a time. This week they hit record sales, selling 9 million phones in the first week.

Some critics say Apple is losing it’s touch and is not releasing good products. I personally think that they are doing good because they  have already sold 9 million.  That’s a huge number. Also, customers have lined up days before the release and have stood in line to be the first handful of people to own the new phone.  I think Apple is doing  the best they’ve done in a while because they released two products at once and a have broke their own sales record.

Gymnastics: Is it a Sport?

Is gymnastics a sport? Gymnastics may be one of the most hardcore, toughest sports invented. No offense football players, but the concussions that you guys get, looks like a bruise compared to the injuries gymnasts go through. A football player has to hold a football that is 10-15 ounces, where as gymnasts need to flip their ENTIRE body weight. There are 4 events. Each event is made up of different skills. Floor is made up of power, grace, flexibility, and strength. Beam is made up of balance, grace, flexibility, and, most important of all, bravery. Bars is made up of strength, and concentration. Vault requires power, and strength. Gymnastics is also scored out of 10.000. You will get points off for falling, bad form, forgetting a routine, missing a step, etc. Every single step you take makes a difference. In football, baseball and soccer, the only points that count are what your ENTIRE team scores.

When people ask me what sports I participate in, I say: “Gymnastics.” What do they reply? “That’s not a sport.” One reason it is a sport is because it is in the Olympics. Do you think that gymnastics would be in the Olympics if it wasn’t a sport? Probably not. Too many people say it isn’t a sport because it doesn’t have offense and defense. But, who cares? People consider swimming and diving a sport, yet, last time I checked, they don’t have offense or defense either. Football players get concussions, bruises, and turf burn. Gymnasts get concussions, broken bones, and bloody rips on a daily basis. When you say to a coach, “I’m injured, or I’m in pain”, they reply with a simple, yet firm, “Suck it up”. A quote I really like is:  “After a day of football a gymnast would be sore. After a day of gymnastics a football player would be dead.” I’m not saying gymnastics is better than football, just that gymnastics is just as tough as football.

USA Qualifies for World Cup 2014!!!

On September 10th, 2013 the US men’s national soccer team played against the Mexican men’s national soccer team for a chance to clinch a spot in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The Mexican team dominated the first 25 minutes of the game keeping the ball, but couldn’t score. The Americans began to wake up in the second half scoring early. After the early goal of Eddie Johnson the Mexican team broke down. They would mess up simple passes and their first touches. Then late in the second half Donovan scored which made it 2-0 USA, the traditional score of these two teams in Columbus.

I had high doubts Mexico was going to win this game as the USA had momentum going into this game losing only one World Cup qualifier. When the USA team came out sleeping I thought we’d have to make a comeback, but we got lucky, Mexico was unable to score a goal. Mexico seemed shy and a little intimidated, knowing their history playing USA in that certain stadium. Once the US scored their first goal I knew they won, Mexico breaks down under pressure which was made by the roaring Americans in the stands and now having to come back a goal down. Then when Donovan scored the second goal in the late second half everyone knew the game was over. After the game all the Americans changed their TV’s to the channel which had the Honduras-Panama game which decided whether they went to the World Cup and with that game ending 1-1 the US has a spot in the World Cup.

Hayes Equestrian Center

Photo

Hayes Equestrian Center is “Just A Wonderful Place To Grow And Learn.” Hayes Equestrian Center is a barn owned by Colleen and Gary Saucier. Colleen and Gary bought “Hayes”, in 2006. Their daughter Julie rode there when she was younger and fell in love with the horses. Since it went for sale in 2006, they have owned this barn and specialized with Arabian horses.

In my opinion, Hayes Equestrian Center is a great place to learn and grow as a rider and is one of my favorite places ever.  I have been taking horseback riding lessons here for about 3 years now and it has changed my life. They have the horse of my dreams, Lucy, and I love her more than anything else in the world.
