The Race to Presidency

As you may have seen on t.v., the Republican Debates are a hot topic.  With every debate that goes on, it is still hard to see a clear winner.   Recently however it seems two candidates are shining the most, Mitt Romney and Herman Cain.  Herman Cain has won in the straw poll for Florida and Mitt Romney continues to wow people everywhere.   However, Michelle Bachman has been low with the voters.  Even though this may appear to be sad, some people only like Michelle Bachman for her iconic hairstyle.  In fact, many people in America have decided to try her famous hairstyle.

Other candidates are very low with the voters, too.  Some people have very little supporters and because of that, not everyone knows all the can“The Race to Presidency” didates names!  As American citizens, I believe the voters should take note of who is running and who is not.  I mean, I’m not even permitted to vote and I am up to date with all of the republican news.  The best part is, Saturday Night Live is a great way to catch up on all things government!  Many times they will do “spoofs” on the recent events happening in politics.  If you can’t watch the news, at least try to watch Saturday Night Live.To conclude, it is early in the race for presidency and their is not a clear winner so everyone should try and keep up on the political news.

Disasters of the World

 

Power outages for up to a week.  Trees knocked down everywhere.  Flooding in streets, homes, and even buildings.  And worst of all, about 10 people dead. These were are all major effects from category 2, Hurricane Irene.  If you really didn’t get effected by it then you are  really lucky.  But just think of some of the horrible things that happened to people across the eastern edge of the United States on August 20, 2011.

Hurricane Irene had a big effect on the eastern states of the U.S.  To fix the damage of this hurricane will take about 10 billion dollars.  Just think about the damage that must have been done! In addition, more than 2 million people were told to move to safer places because the hurricane destroyed homes and roads.  For the first time ever because of the weather, the New York City subways were closed down the Saturday  of the storm at noon.  Winds were also a big factor. The winds reached between 60 mph and 90 mph.  Officials were not used to this kind of weather and were afraid of the amount of damage that might be done by Irene.

Power outages were probably the most common problem between all the states affected by hurricane Irene.  The outages were between 2 days and close to a week, week and a half.   In some peoples cases, they had to go a week without a shower, warm food,t.v, etc.   Some people were “trapped” inside their houses because their road had fallen trees or was destroyed.

I believe that hurricane Irene came at the wrong time with an economy like this.  It will cost billions of dollars to repair the damage that has been done and the U.S. is already in debt and doesn’t need to be billions of dollars more in debt.  Hurricane Irene was also horrible for the people who got affected by it.  I can’t even imagine how much damage was done from watching the news and looking a pictures on the Internet.  It’s just terrible!

As you can see, Hurricane Irene was not a joke.  This was a serious problem that has caused the eastern part of the United States to be in some trouble with both money and land.  Irene has a had a major effect on the economy of 2011 and it’s not the best thing to happen at a time like this.

Tan Tien Review

A few days ago I received one of the best longboards you can get, The Tan Tien.This board, manufactured in California by loaded carving systems, is a very well made bamboo longboard that soars above most others. For the price, this is the best you can get. I got mine from a company called Nordboards.  They assembled the entire thing and sent it to me in about a week. The whole thing came pre-assembled with trucks, wheels, everything. I was very impressed.

On to the board performance wise… On the first ride, the trucks or axels, were a bit tight at first.  However,  this is understandable because the thing hasn’t’ moved since it left the assembly line. This board has really nice flex to it when you stand on it.  This is the first longboard I’ve seen with camber. If you didn’t know, camber is a technique used to make snowboards where the center of the board is curved up slightly higher than the ends creating an effect where the more weight is pushing down on the board, the more it will flatten and speed up. Although I haven’t used it that extensively yet, it is still a great board, and in my opinion, the best you can get for 275 bucks.
