Election Time

We all know the election for the President is next November, but are Palin and Christie going to run to represent the Republican party. Well time is of the essence. I believe when your own supporters are begging you to run on the Republican party ticket then its time for you to run. Also in the last election Sarah Palin ran to represent the Republican party but lost to John McCain. Now if you were in this situation what would you do?

Personally I believe that the Governor of New Jersey Chris Christie should run for the Republican party. He’s an effective communicator. He is able to listen to peoples ideas and try to work with them as much as possible. Also he can be very commanding at times. For example during tropical storm Irene his exact words were “get the hell off the beach.” Now there are some rumors that Sarah Palin is trying to run for the Republican party too. Now in the past she has tried to run and she lost to John McCain. Second time a charm. I don’t think so. She isn’t as involved as Chris Christie. Now we all have our opinions but I think if these two want to be candidates they need to act fast.

Trip to the Hospital

I was playing manhunt with my friends in my neighborhood and I was hiding for a long time, way  back in the woods for probably for about a half an hour. I was covered in leaves, behind many trees and getting very impatient. I was the only one left hiding. Finally someone had found me. I was mad, but luckily she saw me from a distance and she still had to tag me. I had a chance to run. It was a fast passed race through the woods. We reached the end of the woods and starting running through peoples yards. I turned around to see how close she was behind me when I ran into a tree.

I fell to the ground and tried to get up, but I couldn’t. Then my head started to feel warm, almost hot. I felt my head and felt a liquid. Right away I knew it was blood. I looked at my hand and saw nothing but red. I was mad. Soon, my face would be covered in blood. My hands were sticky and I was screaming. The others playing did not know what to do. My friend called my dad and then the police. The sound of the sirens put even more fear into me. At one point I thought death was near. The ambulance came along with two police cars.  The paramedics and my dad rushed me to the hospital because I did not want to be taken by ambulance. The paramedics  wrapped my head with cloth many times to stop the bleeding but it didn’t work. After what felt like a long car ride, the doctor gave me 14 stiches in my forehead. When I got home, the next day, the kids from the neighborhood showed at my door to see how I was doing. Within a week and a half, I was better, and my stitches were gone.

Troy Davis Execution

Troy Davis was claimed guilty for shooting an off duty police officer. Although he’s said he was innocent since 1989.  After they gave him a lethal injection at approximately 8:00pm, that was suppose to take less than two hours, took about four hours and he died at age 42 at 11:08.  When relatives and supporters heard that he hadn’t died (with in two hours) they were relieved.  Everyone thought he was going to live.

Once they announced that he had died the truth came out.  Seven witnesses from his trial and and a possible confession from another suspect people began to doubt it was really him.  Before he died Troy Davis claimed that the shooter was Sylvester “Red” Coles. Davis and Coles had both been at the scene of the shooting, talking outside of Burger King, Coles had been threatening a homeless man (Larry Young) and holding a pistol when Mark MacPhail  was shot attempting to aid the injured Larry Young.  Only after Troy Davis died did Coles confess.

I personally think that we need to be more careful about finding our facts in crimes and making sure that we choose the right criminal.  I know crimes like this has happened all over the world where they execute the wrong person.  I hope juries take this seriously and question more people and look for more clues so that this can be limited.

Herman Cain For President

If 10% is good enough for God then 9% should be just fine for the Federal Government.       -Herman Cain-

Herman Cain one of the Republican Candidates for president has his 9-9-9 plan where there is a 9% Corporate Flat Tax, 9% Personal Flat Tax, a 9% National sales Tax, zero capital gains tax, and ends the Death Tax. In the Cain administration no American Citizen will pay more than a 9% federal income tax.

I think that this will work because Cain knows first hand what it’s like to own a small business and pay taxes, plus pay his employees and himself. I feel that this would be a fair way for everyone to pay their part. If everyone pays the same amount it may inspire more people to start a business. It would also be easier to figure out your taxes because you would know the exact percentage you would pay. Once the plan is put into place over the current plan then there will be more jobs. And Herman Cain said “our tax code is the 21st century version of slavery.” Meaning that the IRS is taxing us to the point that we are slaves to paying taxes. Herman Cain will be a great president. He will do what he says he will do.

Tropical Storm Irene

On August 27th, 2011 tropical storm Irene hit a lot of states including Connecticut, New Jersey, Massachusetts, part of New York, part of New Hampshire and part of Vermont.  In total, Hurricane Irene cost about 7.2 billion dollars in damage. Irene was a tragic storm for some people. It created a lot of damage/wreckage to different places. Clean-up in some places took longer than people expected. Some didn’t know the storm would be that  bad. How did the storm affect you personally?

Being in one of the states that got hit was an experience I hadn’t had before. Connecticut got hit pretty bad in parts of the state. Many people and places lost power. Personally, I was affected by the storm. A little farther down my street a tree had fallen down on a power line. The damage was worse for some people but my family’s power was out for 2 days and many houses here have wells including mine which meant we could not stay there for that duration of time. Like I said before though, many people had it a lot worse than I did from this powerful storm.
