Donald Trump claims Voter Fraud from the Presidential Election

Just last week, January 20, 2017, Donald Trump officially entered the White House for four years. Not even a week being in the White House, Trump has already suspected voter fraud. On Monday, he called for a “major investigation” because he believes that millions of people have voted illegally. Back in November, Trump won the role of president by a majority of electoral votes (33 votes). Many questioned Trump as he won his role of presidency by 16 votes, why he even was running for president. Prior to running, Donald Trump hosted a reality television show, The Apprentice, for 11 years. He also is a successful businessman as he has built many office’s, casinos, golf courses, and much more. So why did he run for president? According to the NY Times, Trump ran in an effort to gain stature. Cleary, Trump has but is slowly losing it as he said that there have been a mistake in votes. So far, he has not cited or proven any key evidence to why this is possible. Over the course of two tweets, Trump wrote, “I will be asking for a major investigation into VOTER FRAUD, including those registered to vote in two states, those who are illegal and … even, those registered to vote who are dead (and many for a long time). Depending on results, we will strengthen up voting procedures!”

But what if Trump only won president with the help of voter fraud? Why would he be pointing this out? Trump exclaims that he is confident in his win and even if there was a voter sham, he still would’ve come out on top.  “You have people that are registered who are dead, who are illegals, who are in two states. You have people registered in two states. They’re registered in a New York and a New Jersey. They vote twice. There are millions of votes, in my opinion,” stated Trump. Later he went on saying to various media reporters that he wants voting to be legitimate and real because voting for a president is a serious topic to discuss and vote on. Though he is right about voting being a serious deal, why wouldn’t voting be legitimate? Trump said that he does not want anyone to be registered in two states, or dead people that are registered or illegals voting. This is accurate, but this doesn’t mean that at least 15 million people voted illegally this past year. Still no evidence has been proved but Trump still believes that he is correct. The new president has had a hard time grasping that others don’t have the same view on this topic. ABC’s David Muir told Trump that the author of the report found no incriminating evidence. Donald Trump later called him “groveling”. Just because the proof from the report doesn’t match his opinion doesn’t mean that David Muir is lying.

Trump has decided that he would like to speak with Republican Lawmakers in Pennsylvania and consider the best way to go about this problem. Hopefully there aren’t any further problems similar to this with Trump when he is in the White House. Who knows what’s in store for the United States for the next four or possibly eight years.

Aerial Gondolas May Come to New York

The traffic in Manhattan is part of life there. It is slow moving and packed to the brim, whether you are on roads or the subway. A new idea has surfaced which could possibly change this. The idea consists of setting up multiple high-speed gondolas to move people along quickly. This is expected to help remove a lot of traffic, but at what costs? If you look at just money, it will cost roughly $100 million to complete. Critics argue this, as well as saying that it only helps the few who can afford waterfront housing, because of where it connects.

In my opinion, I think this is a good idea. I haven’t been to Manhattan, but I have been to other parts of New York. If Manhattan is as crowded as those places, then this is crucial in my opinion. It may be costly, but it also saves lots of money for the working class who drives to work, because they won’t be stuck in traffic wasting gas. It is a very innovative idea, one which has a lot of potential. I think it should be done, but let me know your opinion in the comments.

The Tracks Tragedy

In New York, on December 1st, a train containing approximately 150 passengers derailed causing the death of 4 people and wounding many others. The train, traveling through the Bronx derailed as it was turning a corner at 7:20 in the morning, about 10 miles north of Manhattan’s Grand Central Terminal. All 7 passenger cars went “twisting and turning” says New York Fire Department Chief Edward Kilduff. 3 out of the four that died were thrown from the car as it crossed the opposite track and rolled down a nearby hill. The train was 74 miles up the Hudson River when it left the tracks.  One car finally came to a stop about 10 feet from the Harlem River.

This terrible crash threatened the lives of many people. It is frightening to think of the how much worse this could have been.  So many people rely on the train as their primary method of commuting to work.  The article discusses the plans to examine all aspects of the situation from the track condition, to crew performance and even look for any video evidence that could help to explain what caused the crash and hopefully make the changes to prevent this situation in the future.  People sometimes are blinded to their everyday routine, such as their work commute, and it is not until a tragedy such as this that we re-examine the need for the most up to date safety features to protect the millions of passengers who travel every year.

No More Large Soda?

Can you believe what New York City has done?  The city’s health department became the first to pass a law that bans sugary sodas and sweetened teas which are 16 ounces or larger. The law passed on September 13, 2012.  However, the ban does not include diet sodas, dairy based drinks such as milkshakes, fruit juices or alcoholic beverages which are also fattening.  Plus, drinks like “The Big Gulp” at 7 Eleven are not included in the ban because grocery and convenience stores do not apply to the law.  New York City’s mayor Michael Bloomberg has led the charge.  He believes that the law will reduce the percentage of overweight Americans, especially elementary aged children.  The ban won’t come into play until March of 2013, however.

I do not agree with this ban, people should be able to choose what they want to drink as well as how much, without the government getting involved.  It will cause even more angry Americans in New York City, because they will not be able to get an average small soda when they go to restaurants or to school. What do you think about the ban, should more cities join in?  If this continues, what else will the government ban?  Should we go as far as letting the government ban all unhealthy ingredients and put a tax on sugar.

Pear, Orange, Apple’s iphone 5 oh my!

iPhone5_05_concept-580-75.jpg (580×326)

It’s here. Made out of only glass and aluminum. No previous model has received such praise from handpicked reviewers than this one. Phrases like “flat out lovely”, and “an absolute home run.” The one and only, Apple’s iphone 5. “It’s hard to believe a phone so thin could offer so many features: a larger display, a faster chip, the latest wireless technology, a better camera, and more.” says Apple. Apple officially launched the new iPhone 5 on September 12th, with first-day orders indicating that it has become the fastest-selling device Apple has ever released. Just imagine holding one of Apple’s newest inventions in your hand! Compared to the iphone 4S, the iphone 5 is larger but, lighter.

People in New York City literally waited in a line on the streets for the iphone 5 to finally be open to the world! Can you imagine? Even though some people are crazy about wanting to have one, many people waiting in line say that it’s for the experience. With such unbelievable technology coming out these days, people can’t get enough. When it comes to Apple, people are very loyal. Most technology companies state what they sell and Apple, they state why they sell. Apple’s why message is that “Everything we do, we believe in challenging the status quo. We believe in thinking differently.” Apple challenges the status quo by making beautifully-designed, reliable products. Making almost every Apple product irresistible like the iphone 5.

“Linning”: Is it just a Fad or is Jeremy Lin the Answer to the Knicks’ woes?

02/10/12

The sports’ world has had its fair share of sports fad. From Week 7 through the Divisional Playoffs, Tim Tebow was the definition of a fad, tacking on straight six wins at one point, only to be utterly crushed by the Patriots, once in the regular season and then again in the Divisional Playoffs.. But with the Super Bowl gone and the Tebow craze done, the spotlight shines in the Big Apple on the New York Knicks’ new star, Jeremy Lin. With Baron Davis injured, Mike Bibby and Toney Douglas failing, and the rookie Iman Shumpert floundering under the spotlight, the Knicks turned to Lin, the 2nd year man out of Harvard to lead the team. And Jeremy did not disappoint. Lin put up 25 points, handed out 7 assists, and grabbed 5 rebounds, leading the Knicks past the New Jersey Nets. In the next two games, Jeremy Lin continued his dominance, scoring 20+ points against the Jazz and the Wizards. But now, he faces his first true test. Kobe Bryant. Tonight the re-energized Knicks will pit themselves against Kobe and the Lakers at Madison Square Garden. Today, the “Linsanity” proves itself or falls apart.

02/11/12
After watching the Lakers-Knicks game at Madison Square Garden, I’ve gone “Linsane”. Jeremy Lin showed Kobe Bryant up, whom in a previous interview before the game;  said he didn’t really know what Lin did. But now, I’m sure, he knows very well. I’ve been watching basketball for five years now and Jeremy Lin is the best play-making point guard I’ve seen since Rajon Rondo and Steve Nash. Lin displays excellent court vision and he can place a pinpoint pass from 15 feet away. But that is not all. Jeremy Lin can also read defenses, hit jump shots, and drive through traffic in the lane. At the beginning of the game, the Lakers were dropping under the screens to open up Lin. So Jeremy took advantage of this by pulling and hitting four 15+ feet jumpers in the first quarter. But when the Lakers started to go through the screens, Lin beat them to the basket, laying it in six times throughout the game. Already NBA analysts, like Stephen A. Smith, are beginning to compare him to Steve Nash, a player well on his way to the Hall of Fame. Through this game, Lin has proved that he won’t be another Tebow story. He will be much, much better. As far as I’m concerned, I’m “All Lin”.

Remembering 9/11

If you have recently tuned into the news, you probably know about the completion of the 9/11 memorial. This memorial consists of a reflecting pool and a wall to honor the men and women who lost their lives that day. The memorial has been placed directly were the World Trade Center once stood. Specifically at Ground Zero.

Multiple commercial jets were overtaken by terrorists in the Al Qaeda group, led by Osama Bin Laden. This group targeted the twin towers and crashed the 2 commercial jets directly into the towers, which soon crumbled to the ground. 1000’s of lives were lost during that 1 attack. A small time later, another jet came into contact with the Pentagon. Which also caused the deaths of many. The last plane was rumored to have been targeting either the White House or the Capital Building. However,  the 2 buildings were saved by a few brave men aboard the plane which thrashed out at the terrorists, which I thought was amazing, then they tried to land the plane, but crashed.

Now in New york, stands the beautiful reflecting pool and the memorial wall. On the 10 year anniversary of the attack, people fill the grounds to mourn the loss of loved ones. I think that building a memorial was a great idea, because the people who died that day deserved some sort of recognition, and the reflecting pool was a great add-on. Although it may have made people feel worse because they had to remember the dreadful day, depending on the person, it is a meaningful memorial.  Overall, I do think that the anniversary project was good for New York, it made it look good, and it helped the city feel remembered.
