I think technology is a great bonus for the fashion industry because it allows women, men, and children to look at new styles without going to the store. Viewing Style.com online is very easy for the fashion-conscious people and good for retail stores. I easily want to go to the style.com website to check out trends.  This article confirms that people love looking for high fashion items and online shopping. The 153 million viewers on Style.com and me clearly think that online shopping is fun.

Acting Too Mature

Nowadays, I see kids (6-10 year old) dressing like adults. They wear overly expensive designer brands. Once, I went to the mall and saw a seven year old wearing a lot of makeup and carrying a Coach purse. My jaw almost dropped to the floor. I mean, I don’t even have a purse, especially not a designer brand like Coach. As the generations come and go, younger kids are dressing much differently than my friends and I did when we were in elementary school. I wore Limited Too and Gap kids.

Also, the kids watch a lot of inappropriate TV shows. They watch shows like Jersey Shore. When I was younger I was watching “Drake and Josh,” “Dexter,” etc. But, I think that having this on TV is not good for all ages. I like to watch Jersey Shore but, I’m fourteen and they’re seven. There’s a big age difference.  Finally, to conclude, I think that parents should not be letting all this slip by so easily for their young children.

Make 2012 the Trendiest Year Yet!

As the winter months pass by us fast, there is no reason for our fashion sense to leave like the warm weather. There are so many accessories such as scarfs, hats, gloves, and jewelry that can make you have your own winter look. From “Vogue.com” here are the latest trends this winter and how to make your look shine.

The first look everyone is talking about is to Sparkle and Shine. From wearing the new UGG gold and silver boots to some more jewelry to make your outfit pop, a little sparkle goes a long way. Saying this, please do not dress like the tin man, but adding a little shine or dazzle makes your outfit look ten times better.

I love my UGG’s just as much as every other girl does, but the tall leather boots are in! They are chic with a skirt and great with jeans. From your average colors of brown and black there are also purple, grey, and even yellow along with many more! Paired with jeans and a cute top for school or going out to a more dressier occasion with a shorter dress or a skirt these are your best friends for the winter season.

Beanies to berets, caps and cloches, hats in every size, shape and color  are the ultimate topping this season. When it comes to accessories hats have always been a big hit, but this year they’re on top! A nice hat can make a great accessory, as long as you are wearing the right one. If you are just wearing jeans, a nice shirt, and boots, I do not suggest wearing a cowboy hat, but a little beanie or beret would look cute and chic. They will look good and keep your head warm as you bear the cold winters ahead.

As the temperature goes down and the winter passes us by fast I hope that these few new trends will make your winter fashionable and stylish.

DC TAKING OVER?

D.C Shoe Co. has to be one of the most astonishing skate companies to date. So astonishing that they have the money to pay their pros $400,000 a year for skating their shoes. Some may say that this is a good thing. Others, like myself, say that this brand is taking away too much from the community of skateboarding.

The first major change D.C added was Pro skater Chris Cole. Now, you may not know who Chris Cole is, but he helped put Fallen Footwear on the map of legitimate, high quality shoes. It is a proven fact that Fallen Footwear, has fallen (pun intended) in sales ever since Chris left the team. Fortunately enough, Fallen wont be going into bankruptcy because they have upcoming pros like Tom Asta, Moose, Billy Marks, and White Lion, A.K.A Tommy Sandoval. D.C’s growing team roster is not just making Fallen suffer. It is making one of the premier skate shoes from the 90’s close come 2012.

Es Clothing and Footwear has brought up some of the best skateboarders ever. Eric Koston (36), Nyjah Houston (17), Kellen James (25), and Bobby Worrest (25). Unfortunately, people haven’t been paying attention to skateboarder owned companies like they used too. Thanks to bigger companies (D.C), it seems as if it’s out dated to wear Es shoes. Es has been pushing through bankruptcy for many years, and in the beginning of 2012, they will be closing the doors to their offices. I understand that times are tough for people, but what ever happened to taking care of our own, as skateboarders?

Now, D.C has added Mikey Taylor, Davis Torgeson, and now Mikemo Capaldi? Things are getting crazy. Mikemo was on Lakai, (another skater started company), ever since he was 15, nothing but a high school skateboarding prodigy. They even gave him his first pro model a couple of years ago! Imagine the shock on my face when I saw the “Mo goes” Video on Lakai.web. Now all of the sudden money rules the world of skateboarding?  What ever happened to the as long as I’m pro I’ll be happy talk among us?

It seems as if the only sport that seemed like it wasn’t going to be ruled by money, or greed was skateboarding. I guess I was wrong. Skateboarders should not have to worry about being rich, because if they do, they chose the wrong career path.  Unfortunately, money is what makes the world go around. One day I hope to see just the spirit of having fun in skating gets revived.
