Fall is Here and it’s Taking us by Storm!

Get out your over-sized sweatshirts, your jeans, and Uggs! That’s right it’s time for FALL! Fall is the time of year to be stylish yet comfortable. For example a regular fall outfit for me would be a pair of my favorite black leggings, and an oversized sweatshirts with my tan UGG boots. I feel great, and I look great too! Fall can mean many things to a person. Cuddling by a warm fire, carving pumpkins with friends, or getting a new outfit! Fall also means Halloween! Halloween goes back to the middle ages, when poor people would beg for “soul-cakes” or a sweet treat, and pray for dead relatives to come back. Trick-or-treating however became popular in the 1800’s when children played pranks and then asked for candy. I’m guessing they didn’t get much! But by the 1950’s though, it turned into good old family fun and getting candy, like we know today. Another thing to think about that is on every kid’s mind is “What am I going to be this year?” The pressing question is one I know everyone thinks about at least once during fall! I know I do! So when you are thinking of what you’re going to be for halloween think of these few questions to help guide you:

-What haven’t I been yet?

-What have I been wanting to dress up as but never got around to it?

-What’s my favorite T.V show?

-Who’s my favorite character or actor/actress?

-Who’s my favorite singer?

Well I hope those few pointers helped! So, when you are preparing for the on coming fall season, remember to stay warm!

Fall Festival

Every year there is a Fall Festival in Cheshire, Connecticut. It is held at Bartlem Park. The festival has many booths and tents set up all around the fields for Cheshire fundraisings. They also have carnival food, games and rides. At night they also have fireworks.

I think that if you want to go to the festival to go on rides and play games then its a bit expensive for a carnival. Most of the rides you need four or five tickets per person and a ticket is one dollar. But, if you pay twenty dollars then you get twenty-one tickets. The games are expensive too as they are about five dollars for someone to play. I think that the fireworks are fun and they are free too. Those are my thoughts on Cheshires Fall Festival.

When The Leaves Begin To Change

When you hear the word “Autumn” you think of the time of year when the bittercold first comes out of its burrow and the temperature begins to drop. You think its when the leaves begin to change to that muddy brown and dark orange and when they gracefully fall and twirl away from the trees dark and thick limbs. Autumn is when the wind blows heavily and when your cheeks and nose turn that rosy pink. These are all signs of when Autumn is here.  Autumn is the big transfer from those bright summer days to the cold and white winter.

Autumn is a dreaded season because summers gone and that means the arrival of school. Having to huddle under layers of clothing, shivering, and lips turning the color of purple, as you wait for the arrival of your bus. Other reasons why people don’t like Autumn is because of the cold, misty mornings and the frost on every window. Autumn is too dark and gloomy. The newly cut grass turns brown stiff and dead. Families are forced to burn wood all day and all night to keep family members warm. The smell of burning wood is in every house as people struggle to stay warm and toasty. Summer clothes are tucked away in closets lying there all alone in the dimly lit closet. Blankets are removed from storage and are suddenly scattered everywhere in the house. Pieces of clothing are jammed into cracks all around the house not letting the warm air escape from inside the house. All of these things are what happens in Autumn. These are hints of Winter, and its coming soon.
