Off shore oil drilling is a hot topic in today’s current events. It involves when an oil company drills for oil in the ocean off of a coast. Drilling for oil can prove to be very profitable and helpful to our economy, yet terrible for the environment. If an offshore oil rig were to have a spill, it would completely destroy almost an entire ecosystem, almost crippling the ocean. And it has happened before, just two years ago in April, the BP oil spill affected 16,000 miles of coastline and reeked havoc on the animals inhabiting the area.
Obviously, I don’t support offshore oil drilling at all. Why completely ruin our ocean when we have cleaner, safer, and cheaper ways to get energy? Do we really need to destroy some more of nature with drilling, because I don’t remember nature doing anything like that to us. Most current events I could really care less about. But oil drilling was one that just couldn’t be accepted. Especially because I still don’t get why we need to ravage our coastline just for oil and money. Now ask yourself, are you going to let this happen?
