Don’t Buy A New Computer If Yours Is Running Slow, There’s A Solution That Will Take Just A Few Minutes

turbo app

Studies revealed that PC manufacturing companies are building their computers so they are not made to last a long time. The reason they do this is so you have to spend hundreds of dollars on a new PC every few years so the companies make more money. To try to stop this problem an elite team of Microsoft gold developers have created a new piece of software called TurboYourPC. What it does is scan your PC for unnecessary files that cause your PC to slow down, and fixes them instantly. Basically anyone can use it and it just takes about 5 minutes to work. One thing is you will have to do this about once a month, but it just takes 5 minutes.

Personally I think this is great. No longer will we have to keep spending hundreds on new PCs, just download and use the TurboYourPC software. One downside is that it may not work on all devices, but if you have a desktop at your house, it will probably work with it, and help it run faster and longer. My family has had a few computers that have stopped working after a few years. I’m sure if had used this, they would have lasted longer. So I think this is worth a try if you have a slow PC.

By Hand or By Keyboard?

The new common core standards have eliminated handwriting from the curriculum in American classrooms. Now that electronic devices are being brought to classrooms, penmanship has dropped from the list of necessities for children to learn. Some argue that handwriting brings out creativity and intelligence in students. The main two reasons why many teachers fight to keep penmanship. The first is that many tests require writing and reading from paper. The second reason is for comprehension – students can slow down their thinking process by writing out every word. Others say that typing on devices is neater and faster for kids. Seventy-eight percent of teachers surveyed think that using devices to work in school develops expression and creativity for students.

Students should be allowed to use devices for their work, but penmanship should not be completely forgotten. Many teens already have electronic devices available for use in school so teachers should take advantage of them. Also, it is much easier for teachers to read and edit student’s work on computers. On the other hand, there are still many things in life that are written down on paper so students should know how to handwrite to accomplish these tasks. Overall, common core standards need to accept the new technology, but not eliminate the older way of writing.

Computer Science Education Week

This week is Computer Science education week. Many schools around the U.S have been honoring this week by using online learning tools in the classroom. Douglas Rushkoff, CNN.com column writer, had adressed Congress members this past Wednesday, about teaching more classes about computers in schools. Rushkoff is very concerned about the misuse of today’s technology. “When we got language, we didn’t just learn how to listen, but how to speak. When we got text, we didn’t just learn how to read, but how to write. Now that we have computers, we’re learning how to use them — but not how to program them.” (Rushkoff) Rushkoff feels that the school is not taking hold of it’s technological advantages towards education, and should be using everything they can to teach the new age of children. Another thing that he strongly believes should also be going on in the classroom is changing the curriculum for computer classes. He would like to change this so that computer classes teach you how to program a computer rather than use it. He feels that programming computers would be more productive for the students of this time.

I strongly believe in his feelings as well. I agree with Mr. Rushkoff because i also think that computer classes do not teach much to the students other than using the computer that could be beneficial for their futures. I also think that it would be a good experience for the students to know just where Google and many other sites they use come from. It may also help the students better appreciate the things they get to use everyday. Another great benefit of changing the curriculum to computer programming is, with the experience you gain in the classroom you can get a job later on in life. Computer programming classes can also teach students to respect school equipment after learning the long process it takes to make it.

Apple: Is it All Downhill From Here?

On October 5, 2011 Steve Jobs, the Co-founder, CEO, and chairman of Apple Inc, Died. But I probably don’t need to tell you that, one in ten people over age 13 own an IPhone alone, not putting into account IPads, ITouch’s, and countless other devices that most people in America desperately want to have. Steve Jobs helped found Apple, the company that makes every device with an “ i “ in the front of it, and was a huge influence on how successful the company eventually turned out to be. Many people believe he provided the imagination and inspiration behind every product. Steve Jobs apparently had plans for years ahead but some wonder if Apple can finish the plans all by themselves. It leaves one question in every body’s minds; can Apple pull it off?

For me this question is difficult. I don’t think any one person can answer it with certainty, because Apple is very secretive. For all we know they could have already made the IPhone 8 and are just waiting for the right time to release it. If Apple has Steve Job’s plans then they don’t have to worry about coming up with ideas, until the plans run out at least, but instead they have to worry about how they should present the new products. If they release a new Iphone every month then they risk the quality of them and they risk that customers will get bored of Iphone’s and turn to a new electronic device. But if they try to build up hype for every single new product, customers will eventually get tired of waiting and stop buying Apple products. I think that Apple should be okay without Steve Jobs, but I don’t think Apple will last forever. The day we all get tired of seeing an “ i “ in front of every device is the day that Apple is truly finished.

The New iPad: Is it Really Different Than the iPad 2?

The new iPad, also known as the iPad 3, is soon coming out. It is going to have new features: four times more pixels than the iPad 2, the best display on a mobile device, iSight camera, HD video recording, and more. It is available for pre-order now; the cost is $630 at minimum. The iPad 2 was $500 at minimum, which was a fair price. But are they really different, and why does the iPad 3 cost so much more?

On the new iPad, you will be able to see clearer since its pixel performance has increased greatly. However, was there a problem seeing clearly in the first place? I, myself, have an iPad 2, and I have no issues with seeing clearly whatsoever. Improving the clearness of pictures and letters are apparently worth $130 more than the iPad 2. Honestly, I would rather have the iPad 2 instead of the new one, if it’s that much cheaper.

Facebook: Friend or Foe?

We all know what Facebook is and how it was started. Most people in the U.S.A have one. 5% of the world’s total population has a account and this is a number that is rapidly growing.  Facebook is a way to connect with friends and family, and to make sure that your not out of the loop. It’s intentions are good, but have people turned it into something it’s not?

The age to have an account on Facebook is 13. How many people in our generation have gotten it before 13? The better question is “How many people got it after 13?” Facebook is a scary place for someone under 13. And sometimes parents don’t care when their kid gets a Facebook. On my personal Facebook, I used to be friends with a 2nd grader! This popular website may not seem as good as you think after this next topic. Their have been accounts of people being stalked on Facebook because of the personal information you put on your profile. A person can see where you live, when your birthday is, and obviously your name! And sometimes this is enough for a experienced hacker to hack your email. This happened to my mom once. They broke into her email and sent a letter saying the we were stuck in England and we needed money to get home. This has happened to over 2 million others too!

So is Facebook.com really worth it? Are you willing to take the risks that are attached to being a member. I personally am not and these reasons are why I deactivated my Facebook. You may see no problem with the website and that is totally fine. But next time you are checking out whats going on just think about what could happen.

The Best Electronics of 2011 and Whats to Come

So as we all know 2011 is over and 2012 has begun, but the question on alot of our minds is whats next?  2011 had some amazing new technology and electronics but which were the best? There was the iphone 4S which introduced a great new application called “Siri”. Siri is a virtual friend that is connected to all of the search engines commonly used in America and you are able to communicate with it like a normal human. Siri can answer all of your questions with ease.

Obviously Apple excelled this year with two other ground breaking products.  First the ipad 2 that has the best touch screen out and fastest Internet available from a tablet. Second the Mac Book air which proves that a computer of any size or weight can have all the power and space you need. No company can match Apples success this year.

However, not only Apple came out with new technology this year. Philips introduced 3D TV’s for at home normal use which was a huge hit and immediately copied by many other brands. In my opinion the most under rated of all new technologies in 2011 was the HTC Evo .This was the first phone able to access full 4G making it as fast as any computer out there and as portable as any other phone, making it a perfect companion for anyone who desires to use Internet on the go.

2012 is sure to be interesting, with the iphone 5 on the horizon and who knows what else is to come.
