Are All The Girls In The World Going In One Direction?

It seems like just yesterday, Justin Bieber was the biggest topic at school. There were screaming girls ranting on about how cute he was and how inspirational his music is and there were aggravated boys who would rant on and on about how stupid he was. Everyone either really loved him or really hated him.
Well, I believe the Justin Bieber trend has passed. However, a new one has already taken its place. And it’s even worse than the last.

This new trend is a boy-band that calls itself One Direction, which includes members,Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.  Five boys who, merely two years ago, did not know each other, but came together as one band after auditioning for the X-Factor. Apparently, they are all British, with the exception of Niall, who is Irish. There’s one thing I have noticed: girls really like boys with accents.

With only two albums out so far, Take Me Home and Up All Night, girls all over the world are swooning over this European boy-band. One Direction beat out Rihanna and even Justin Bieber himself for two awards at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards. They recently performed two concerts, one on Friday, November 30th and one the following day, Saturday, December 1st, in the Cheshire area. The results of that were unbelievable.
I accidentally gave word about it to my friend who lives in Florida and she almost began crying because she at least wanted to be remotely close to them like me. One of my friends, in fact, had gone and met two of the members in a McDonald’s after the concert. She claimed it was the best day of her life. I was out at a restaurant with my father, his friend and her daughter and the second I mentioned the concert she was not fortunate enough to attend, she almost threw a fit in the restaurant. And she’s almost fifteen years old.

Sure, the members of One Direction have decent singing voices, catchy songs and adorable accents, but, are they really worth crying over? I suggest girls ask themselves that. I am personally not a fan of One Direction, but also not a hater. They are good, but, are they that good? Teenage girls typically over-react and obsess over everything little thing that comes their way, but I question whether or not this crazy obsession over One Direction is a passing trend. Considering this craze is ten times worse than the Bieber one, I wonder what will come next after One Direction is gone?

Mexico City Madness

Imagine this: standing in a shopping plaza, looking around and seeing a bunch of 10-14 year olds in purple screaming as loud as they can. This is what you would have seen if you were in Mexico City’s main plaza earlier this week. Justin Bieber was performing a free concert that thousands of people would be attending. There was an estimated number of about 5,000 police going to be on duty at this event. Their job was to keep Justin safe and all of the bystanders in a calm matter. They knew this would not be the case. Fernanda Gutierrez Aparicio was one of Bieber’s crazy fans that attended his concert. She and her mother had been camping out for a week to get to the front of the performance, only returning home to use the bathroom and check up on the family. She was in the front of the pack waiting to get in and was sickened because “ people were crushing you, not letting you breathe. They were jostling each other and it got to the point that you couldn’t move.” Fernanda said.

This would be amazing. Imagine Justin Bieber having a free concert and being close enough to go?  Imagine him making a video talking about the concert you are at! Imagine seeing Justin Bieber’s face in person. I would die. I would be camping out for a month if my parents would allow. I think that the police of the managers should have made  free but you had to get a ticket.  This would have been a lot less crazy and you wouldn’t have to wait for a week in a tent. They could control the crowd and keep everyone safe. I believe that Justin Bieber should have a concert in every state and you are only allowed to go if you live in that state. This would regulate the crowds and everyone is happy! Justin, please come to Connecticut soon!

Bieber Suffers from a Mild Concussion

On May 31, 2012, Justin Bieber suffered from a mild concussion. This happened backstage right after his concert, when he ran into a glass wall! “There was a glass wall behind me, but there’s a railing behind the glass, and so I went to reach for the railing and I hit my head on the glass. I guess me and glass windows don’t really go together! It really hurt.” said Bieber. After hitting the wall, he still went back on stage to perform his last song. While walking back to his dressing room Bieber told reporters, “I immediately felt really weak and then I was walking down the stairs and I passed out for like 15 seconds and I was unresponsive, like not talking, not anything!” Soon after he opened his eyes he went to a doctor and is okay.

Before hearing this, I remember seeing tweets from Justin Bieber about the incident. One said “@scooterbraun just got a call from @tmz about me running into a glass wall. i answered. gotta laugh at yourself sometimes.” And another said “i will see u again Glass. I will have my revenge. BIEBER vs GLASS. MGM LAS VEGAS 2013. lol. #GottaLaughAtYourself” It’s a good thing Justin is okay and can keep performing!

A Small Town Canadian turns to an International Superstar

Justin Drew Bieber was born on March 1st, 1993 on a Tuesday at 12:56 A.M. Justin was born and raised in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. Patricia Mallette, Justin’s mother, had a teen pregnancy and then continued to raise him as a single parent.  Justin became interested in music very early in life, and it was a no brainer that he was extremely talented. He was most interested in singing, drums, and guitar, but later he realized his best talent was singing. Bieber started small, very small. When I say he started small I mean very small, like singing in church choirs and on the side of the road for extra cash. Then he began posting videos on YouTube of him singing until one day when Scooter Braun called Patty. Scooter told Patty about Justin’s amazing potential and flew them into Atlanta, Georgia…and that’s where it all began. Soon enough Bieber signed with Scooter and came out with his first hit album My World. Since then he went on the produce Never Say Never, My World 2.0, Mistletoe, and is releasing a new album this June called Believe. Oh yeah, and did I mention he is only eighteen.

If you’ve ever heard Justin Bieber sing you must already know he is AMAZING! And I mean look at that gorgeous hair of his, gotta love it! And don’t you just want to touch it? Well, if you answered “no” to that  then clearly you are jealous of him. This is a fact… if you’re not in love with Justin Bieber you’re just jealous and want to be him. A wise teacher once told me, “People who don’t know you, are ones that want to know you.” I feel this applies to Bieber too. And if you are jealous of him (and don’t be in denial) I can’t blame you, he is a pretty fantastic eighteen year old boy. The fact that he is the richest teenager in the world makes me pretty jealous too. Also he can date any girl in the world because, well who wouldn’t want to be with Justin Bieber. Don’t even get me started with Selena Gomez. I mean come on,  out of all of the girls he picks her! I don’t get it! I know lots of people criticize Bieber but it can’t be easy being him. Half the world loves him, the other half hates him.   No privacy, everyone wanting something from you, and always practicing or touring…that doesn’t sound easy. Also there are other mean and offensive things being said about him but, don’t even go there! So now I ask you, when we don’t actually know him, how can we hate him? How can we judge him? Why do we still criticize? I say we need to give him a chance to show the world who he really is!
